Who is Ian Fleming? Only the man who brought the world Bond … James Bond. In addition, he wrote – you’ll never guess it! – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Now there is an interesting literary pairing.
Ian Fleming chronicled the adventures of James Bond in twelve novels and nine short stories. The quintessential spy first appeared in the pages of Casino Royale in 1953. After Fleming’s death in 1964, subsequent James Bond novels were written by Kingsley Amis, John Gardner, Raymond Benson and Sebastian Faulks. To date James Bond has starred in twenty-two films, portrayed by six different actors: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and, most recently, Daniel Craig.
