Are you “arrrrr”ing? If you arrrrren’t, then you arrrrrght to be! It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day has been arrrrround since 1995 when two wannabe pirates, John Baur and Mark Summers, starrrrrted talking to each other in pirate-speak after a racquetball game. (Don’t worry, I’m sure it was a very swashbuckling racquetball game.) This was in June, but they chose September 19 in honor of Summers’ wife’s birthday.

T-Shirt of the Day Award in Memory of General Burnside

Union General Ambrose Burnside (pictured below) died on September 13, 1881. Burnside had such amazingly prolific and distinctive side whiskers that the word “sideburns” was derived from his name.
