Elias Who? No, Elias Howe. You remember your middle school history: Elias Howe invented the sewing machine! In honor of Elias Howe’s birthday, his great invention, and middle school history teachers everywhere, enjoy a sewing machine on us. Or on yourself, on a tee shirt.
On July 5, 2011, Arizona was hit by a massive dust storm called a haboob. A thunderstorm south of Phoenix, in Tucson, began to collapse, which caused a huge downdraft that blew ahead of the storm, resulting in a disturbance of the dust and debris and causing a wall of dust over a mile high and 100 miles wide to engulf the entire city of Phoenix. Winds were gusting over 60 miles per hour, many areas suffered power outages, and nothing was allowed to fly in or out of the city for over an hour.
