Rocky road, ranked 10th in ice cream popularity in the United States, is traditionally composed of chocolate ice cream with nuts and marshmallows mixed in, though there are variations on the additions. William Dreyer invented rocky road in 1929 as an imitation of a chocolate candy created by his partner Joseph Edy.
