The history of National Hamburger Day is a mystery, but it is well-established as an actual holiday. Some areas give away free hamburgers for Hamburger Day, so be sure to check around your city and see if anyone is celebrating by giving you free hamburgers! Hamburgers were more or less invented in America, but there is some controversy about exactly when and where. The one firm fact seems to be that they were served at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition – more famously known as the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair – and that was the first time many people had seen them. They seemed to sorta catch on after that.
